The goal of the Family Self-Sufficiency Program (FSS) is simple: to provide clients with a way out of poverty and dependency throughout their own efforts and accomplishments.
There are usually about 95 families enrolled in the program. In 2008, the Missoula Housing Authority dispersed over $120,000 to FSS Participants to use towards a down payment on a home, to decrease debt and to repair vehicles. Since 2000, 27 families have moved into homeownership using their escrow funds.
